 Fly pattern for Mayan Warrior

Mayan Warrior

Start the thread at the eye of the hook and wrap the shank to the point where it is even with
the point of the hook.
Tie in a small clump of squirrel tail hair leaving about 1/3 of the butt end sticking out forward
of the tie in point. Wrap the thread rearward of the tie in point about 1/16th of an inch.
Fold the butt end back over the other section of hair and tie off securely.
Tie in the plastic eyes using a figure eight weave.
Wrap some dubbing material on the thread in preparation for building the head of the fly.
Form a head about the eyes using dubbing material.
Tie in 2 hackle feathers just behind the head of the fly. Wrap the thread up to the eye of
the hook and tie off.
Palmer the first feather up the the eye of the hook and tie off. Make sure that the stalk of
the feather is tightly wrapped against the previous wrap to form a fairly dense segment of
feathers.
Palmer the second feather just as you did the first and tie off. Apply head cement.
Trim the feathers on the top side of the hook to form the body of the fly.
