Spring Tournament wrapup

Spring Club Tournament- The club spring tournament ended on May 31st at Calhoun Park.
Spring Tournament Wrapup

We had hamburgers and brats and members brought side dishes. The turnout was good and Bill Streitz had invited a Guest, Capt Jim Penrod a FFF member from the Port St Joe area. Jim is a member of the Tallahassee club and Tom Wall and I had met him at The Bass Pro Shop spring show.

Spring Tournament Wrapup
Jim is a Master FFF Casting instructor and while the food was smoking and sizzling, the guys were flycasting different rods by members with Jim watching and showing us what we could do to improve our casting...Damn you should have seen Torben’s smooth casting as he casted his T3 rod from Orivs. He could lay the line out there with so little effort it looked like poetry in the air. Torben wont admit it but Bill Streitz and members agreed he is the best flycaster in the club.

Spring Tournament Wrapup
Debbie and Al picked up nearly everything we needed for the luncheon/ wrap-up and much thanks goes to them. Our chefs “ chef al Mast and Chef Jim Waters” did a great job on cooking and you could tell there wasn’t much leftovers remaining. Thanks to all those who brought food and shared with us. With the bad spring we had ( wind, rain, dirty water, ...etc...what Spring? ) there wasn’t a lot of pictures turned in but we did have a good time.

Spring Tournament Wrapup
A lot of the members braved the elements and still fished but the fishing was slow. I talked to the Louisana guys at the conclave and they had the same conclusions with fishing reports being slow and less than ideal conditions. SO the final results of the tournament is as follows: Largest Redfish- Torben Dam Largest Pompano- Dennis Curely Grand Slam- Dennis Curley The grand slam consisted of trout, redfish, and Pompano. Dennis did turn in a trout picture but could only win one category.

Thanks goes out to Dennis Curley for being the point of Contact for the Tournament and keeping track of the rules and guidelines.Spring Tournament Wrapup
